Tanta gente...

Duendes, behave!!

Any smart housewife knows that-aside from carrying hand cream in your bag-the housework should always be done in front of witnesses. You don't do it in your "spare" time, when no one else is home. You do it when everyone's around. Otherwise, it will seem like the elves came in and did the dishes, cooked, washed everything used for cooking and then some, and folded laundry and while they were at it, swept the floor.

And people always seem to forget to thank these elves for their hard work.

Hands

Any effort at eluding responsibility, pretending you don't have any -even if it's only for as long as this bus ride lasts- can be brought down by a look down. At one's hands. Especially if they are a dish-washing mom's hands. Hmph! Nothing that a little hand cream can't fix. Which of course any saavy dish-washing mom carries in her backpack.

As seen at the stop light while waiting for a bus

Or, "Tried to look busy 'til the light turned green". Or, Look Mommy, No Hands!

10 am: a woman eating cereal with milk, from a red bowl, with a red spoon. At the steering wheel of her Corolla. The light turns green. The car moves, with her still spooning her cereal. Maybe she dedicated her breakfast time to something really neat this morning. I hope.
